LGBTQ+ families can dive into summer fun at a number of queer-friendly amusement parks around the world. Here are LGBTQ+ friendly parks that you can visit with friends and family this summer and ensure you’re in a safe space.
Six Flags
With more than 25 locations across New York, New Jersey, California, Texas, Georgia, Montreal, Canada and Mexico, Six Flags is a LGBTQ+ friendly theme park accessible to many queer families living in North America. The park offers thrilling rides and maintains its commitment to “creating an inclusive environment that fully embraces the diversity of [their] team members and guests, regardless of ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.” Six Flags hosts Pride celebrations across its locations with fun themes and activities throughout the summer, plus special Pride merchandise is available.
Universal Studios
Universal Studios has celebrated Pride for years and even offers pride itineraries for visitors to their park during pride month. Universal Studios Hollywood has partnered with LA Pride to host events like Pride is Universal which offers ticketholders access to the park until 2 a.m. and a late night party with DJ’s, dance areas, cash bars, late night rides, and attractions.
Legoland
Like Universal, LEGOLAND’s locations also host annual Pride celebrations for staff and guests. Plus, on display at the park, the world’s longest miniature PRIDE celebration built out of LEGOs. The brand also offers a “Everyone is Awesome” collection, colorful LEGO toys that celebrate “positivity and kindness in our families, our communities, and our world.”
Tivoli Gardens
Copenhagen’s famous magical theme park is a celebration of the city’s beauty, and is the second oldest theme park in the world. A food hall, beautifully kept pathways, ponds and seating areas make Tivoli Gardens the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Tivoli Gardens also plays host to LGBTQ+ couples on a daily basis and has held gay-themed days, LGBTQ+ weddings, and more.
Efteling
In the Netherlands, Efteling Park’s fantasy campus is dark and mysterious. The park is renowned for its policies on inclusivity and LGBTQ+ events. The park has been open since 1952 and is rumored to be one of Walt Disney’s inspirations for Disneyland. Sprawled out in an enchanting forest, the park’s aesthetic is steeped in classic fairytale imagery. The park has even been LGBTQ+ approved by LGBTQ+ Nation.
