The East Coast offers plenty of nudist destinations for those who know where to look. In fact, this region is home to some of the country’s only LGBTQ campgrounds.
Must-visit destinations include Camp OUT, a queer and trans-forward campground in the Poconos Mountains, just a 90-minute drive from both NYC and Philly. But the tents here have only just been pitched. Camp OUT only opened its doors in 2022 as an adult-only membership based retreat (with day passes available).
The whole campground is clothing optional, regular themed weekends invite new travelers for Geeks & Gaymers weekend or Camp Wrestle Fest. Plus, pool parties, bonfires and Pride weekends. The property boasts an onsite nightclub, outdoor showers, a sports field, food truck, pools, and hot tubs and spa amenities.
The Woods, a premiere LGBTQIA+ campground in Lehighton, Pennsylvania kicks off its 2026 in May. And for those outdoorsy types, this spot is not to be missed. It boasts a large swimming pool, hot tub, dance floor, cafe, general store, hiking trails, four acre lake, cabins, RV sites, themed weekends, and more. The entire 161-acre property (café dining room aside) is clothing optional including the parking lot.
LGBTQ+ hotspot Provincetown is a wonderful destination for clothing optional adventures. To perfect your tan head to Boy Beach, an unofficial nude gay beach near Herring Cove Beach.
For accommodations, check into the Crews Quarters, a historic Provincetown boarding house built for sailors. Today, it’s been restored and turned into a 17-room gay hostelry in the heart of Commercial Street. Owner Stuart Jackson says he wanted to bring “a vintage speakeasy-style queer guesthouse into being.”
A bit further north, Rock River is a legendary gay nudist strand tucked away along a boomerang-shaped bend in rural Southern Vermont. During the summer months, the beach attracts hundreds of nudists from surrounding city centers like Boston, New York and even Montreal.
Also in Vermont, set on 63 secluded acres of farmland, Frog Meadow Farm is 3 for 3: gay-owned, men-only, and clothing optional. A sweet bed and breakfast just up the road from Rock River, the spot is a great place to take a breather from city life. The property offers a swimming pond, wood-fired hot tub, hiking trails, a subterranean gym, daily farm-to-table breakfast fare, and occasional nude yoga retreats and erotic workshops. Plus, views of the Green Mountains to beat.
Not far off in New Jersey, the famous Gunnison Beach has a special nudist section, arguably making it the most famous nudist beach on the East Coast.
Fire Island simply must join the ranks and we’re recommending the Belvedere Guest House, a Venetian-style, men-only mansion hotel in Cherry Grove. Picture Grecian columns, Renaissance-era scenescapes, Tiffany lamps, Oriental rugs, Etruscan replicas, Gothic candelabras, animal print throws, and ceiling frescoes. The entire property, including guest rooms, common areas and swimming pool, is clothing optional, and most guests are game to join the party.
