Icelandair offers travelers the opportunity to extend a stopover for up to seven days with no additional cost if you are flying between North America and the U.K. or Europe. Iceland stopovers are well-known in the travel community and are relatively common as travelers move between the American and European continents. Here on a stopover, travelers can pay a visit to some of the world’s most beautiful natural landscapes, coursing rivers and waterfalls, dip into the Blue Lagoon, and decompress before hopping on another flight. 

SWISS International Air Lines offers travelers the opportunity to stay between one and four nights in Switzerland with their stopover program. Depending on your travel style you can select a package best for you. Trip packages span categories of “luxury,” “taste of Switzerland,” and “best of Switzerland,” according to The Points Guy. Pricing begins at around 180 Swiss francs and Packages include accommodations, public transport, and a passbook with discounts on attractions, mountain trains, dining, and more.

JAL (Japan Airlines) gives passengers plenty of room to choose their own adventure with the “Multi-City” stopover booking feature. This feature comes at no additional cost, and though the airline doesn’t have parameters for how long you can stay, expenses during your stay will come out of your own pocket. JAL also offers the Japan Explorer Pass, which allows those on stopovers to book cheap domestic flights to get more out of their trip.
