Swiss International Air Lines, the flag carrier of Switzerland, has just announced that all 12 of their Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be retrofitted to include a brand new Premium Economy cabin.
According to a release from the airline, the seats will all be what’s called “hardshell”, meaning that they’re built into a casing similar to the way Business Class seats are. This way, when a passenger reclines, their seat doesn’t lean back into the person behind them. This will create a much more comfortable and private flying experience.
The seats are also equipped with lots of excellent features, like large 15.6-inch IFE screens, personal reading lamps, USB chargers, adjustable headrests, and a seat pitch that’s almost 40 inches.
Also in the new cabin will be a delectable selection of dining options. All passengers get a choice of three main course options, one of which is a rotating seasonal special. On top of that, meals come with a complimentary aperitif, and all beverages (including beer and wine) are included. To finish off your meal, SWISS serves all of their freshly-brewed coffees with premium swiss chocolates, creating the perfect ending to any meal.

So it also helps us strengthen our premium-carrier positioning in the growing leisure travel market.”
The retrofitting begins this year and will originally be available on flights between Switzerland and Miami, San Francisco, and Sao Paulo, but will eventually be available for all long-haul routes that use the 777-300.
