Trip.com released new findings on women’s movements in the travel industry in celebration of International Women’s Day in 2026. The report indicated that flight bookings for women are growing by 13% year-on-year, based on Trip.com Group’s data. The trend has seen particular growth in Southeast Asia and Indonesia, where bookings made by women have more than doubled from the previous year.
The report also finds that the average female traveler takes approximately two international trips per year, according to 2025’s data. South Koreans are the most active group, followed by Chinese women.
Trends also indicate European travelers are booking trips to destinations further away from home, with destinations like Bangkok, Shanghai, Cairo, Buenos Aires, and Lima being commonly searched on the platform. Still, European women are most likely to continue traveling domestically or within the bounds of the European Union.
Overall trends reflect an emphasis on safety and familiarity for women when searching for potential trips. Trip.com reports safety is most important to women in the United Kingdom.
Worldwide, women are traveling more than ever fueled by a rise in travel culture and influencing on social media platforms. This trend has been observed across all age groups, with women between the ages of 25 and 34 traveling solo the most.
