Coming off an expensive summer travel season, airlines are rapidly dropping their prices and are now offering some of the most affordable flights of 2023.
According to experts, prices are down 29% from the summer months, down 10% from pre-pandemic 2019 statistics, and have dropped 18.9% between January and June of 2023. These percentages translate to an $87 average decrease in airfares.
Though it’s typical to see flight prices drop at the end of summer, according to ABC, September’s amazing deals are also the result of an international travel boom. As prices drop, experts are urging travelers to start looking for end of year flights so they can save even more money.
“You should be monitoring the price of your holiday travel now and expect to book in the next 4 to 6 weeks. You want to book both your Christmas and Thanksgiving travel by mid-October, but expect that prices will be the lowest between about Sept. 15 and Oct. 15,” Haley Berg, an economist from Hopper, told ABC News.
If you were thinking of booking your next flight, now is the time to do it. So hop on your favorite flight booking platform and see what deals you can find for your fall, winter, and holiday getaways.
