WorldPride NYC Announces “The World Mural Project”

Today, WorldPride NYC announced a new art endeavor titled The World Mural Project. The project will have various artists (both LGBTQ+ as well as allies) paint 50 murals across all five boroughs for the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising!

The goal of the murals is to highlight the experience of being LGBTQ+, with the hopes that these paintings can initiate engaging conversations about diversity, inclusion, and equality. For centuries, art has been a way for people to express themselves and has also proved to be a valuable tool for exposing others to new ideas and cultures. Art is one of the best ways to create bridges over differences and show the power and potential that is inside all of us. Using these murals as a physical symbol of Pride will be exciting, beautiful, and creative.

Chris Frederick of NYCPride said, “As millions descend on New York they will inevitably explore all that the city has to offer. Whether the March carries them through neighborhoods that are intricately tied to the LGBTQIA+ community, or they venture out to other boroughs, the WorldPride Mural Project will serve as a beacon of pride!”
