The U.S. Department of State has issued a warning to American travelers around the world, as the crisis between Israel and Palestine ensues in the Middle East.
The Department of State’s travel advisory states: “Due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations, or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution.”
The advisory follows additional warnings over the past week that advise U.S. citizens to reconsider travel to Israel and not to travel to the Gaza Strip or Lebanon.
Travelers abroad have also been encouraged by the Department to use the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts, and utilize location services in the case of an overseas emergency.
